Recall Corner: September 2008 Print Email

Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 08V292000, which affects certain 2008 and 2009 model year American Allegiance, American Eagle, American Heritage, American Tradition, Bounder, Bounder Diesel, Discovery, Excursion, Expedition, Fiesta LX, Icon, Jamboree, Jamboree GT, Jamboree Sport, Pace Arrow, Providence, Pulse, Revolution LE, Southwind, Tioga, and Tioga Ranger motorhomes manufactured from May 19, 2008, through June 20, 2008. The potential number of vehicles involved is 226.

These motorhomes fail to comply with the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 567, "Certification." The occupant and cargo carrying capacity numbers listed on the Federal Certification label were calculated incorrectly, allowing additional load carrying capacity. Overloading may have an adverse effect on motorhome handling, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fleetwood will mail a corrected Federal Certification label along with installation instructions to the affected motorhome owners. Owners who do not feel comfortable installing this label themselves can take their motorhome to any Fleetwood dealer who will install the label for them at no charge.
For more information about this recall, contact Fleetwood at (800) 509-3418. Owner notification was expected to begin in July 2008.

For current information about recalls, including information about the recall history of a particular make and model vehicle, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Auto Safety Hotline at (888) 327-4236; or, search the NHTSA recall database. Even if your motorhome is not involved in a current recall, make sure the vehicle manufacturer and the chassis manufacturer have your current contact information on file for any possible future recalls.
