Most motorhome couch cushions have to be readjusted every time you sit or lie on them. This is especially true with a sofa bed. But I found a solution to this sliding problem: hook-and-loop fastening material, such as Velcro.

Begin with several sewable strips of 2-inch-by-6-inch hook-and-loop fastening material. (Use a single strip for each cushion you wish to keep in place.) Begin by sewing the fuzzy side of the material horizontally to the couch bottom. Next position the hooked side on the underside of the cushion vertically so that it lines up with the fuzzy side and then sew it in place. By using this method, you don't have to worry about the pieces matching exactly. The cushions stay put nicely and you can still pull out the cushion as usual to make the bed.

Window Curtain Strap

Our Winnebago motorhome came with one strap to hold our front curtain in place. However, while we were traveling with the front window open, the strap would not keep the curtain from blowing outside the window. So we added another strap, just like the one that came with the motorhome, eight inches below the original strap. This solved our problem, and it looks like it came with the motorhome.

Converter Box Switching

I purchased a Magnavox TB100MW9 digital converter box at Walmart using one of the government-issued coupons. I connected the box in my Holiday Rambler motorhome as instructed in the owners manual. My RV has an antenna booster box that controls input sources such as the roof antenna, cable TV, or satellite. The converter box is connected to the front TV (the bedroom TV was upgraded to digital, so a box is not required when using the TV antenna). The converter box worked fine with the TV antenna; however, when connected to cable, the converter box will not pass the cable signal through to the TV. The TB100MW9 converter box is not listed as a pass-through unit for analog.

Instead of purchasing a different converter box, I installed a splitter from my antenna booster to the front TV. On one leg I put the converter box and on the other leg the cable, with a switch between the TV antenna and the cable hookup. The front TV will now work with the TV antenna or cable/satellite with a flip of the switch.

Container Identification

We were getting tired of using regular labels or labeling tape to mark containers. So now we use blue painter's tape. It is inexpensive and doesn't leave a residue, yet it sticks until you remove it.

Heat Dissipation

Since we are all adding so many electronics to our motorhomes, dispersing the heat from these units can be a problem. I have discovered that putting a sink protector under and between these components allows the heat to escape more easily. I've found these types of racks at discount department stores, in two sizes, and they are fairly inexpensive. They also have rubber feet that keep them from slipping around in the cabinets.
