Thor Industries Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 10V268000, which affects some 2009 through 2011 model year Four Winds International Freedom Elite 21C Type C motorhomes built from February 2009 through May 2010. The potential number of motorhomes involved is 415. The affected motorhomes did not have the required heat shield installed over the exhaust as specified by the chassis manufacturer. Without the heat shield in place, heat is not properly dissipated around the exhaust of the vehicle. This could potentially lead to a fire and result in property damage, personal injury, or death. A Four Winds dealer will install a heat shield between the exhaust and the residential part of the motorhome to dissipate heat. The repair is expected to take less than one hour. Winnebago Industries Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 10V248000, which affects some 2010 Itasca Navion and Navion IQ and 2010 Winnebago View and View Profile Type C motorhomes manufactured from April 27, 2009, through January 21, 2010. The potential number of motorhomes involved is 252. On the affected motorhomes, a bolt in the driver and/or passenger seats may be missing. Should an accident occur while this bolt is missing, the seat and/or seat belt may not function as designed, which could result in personal injury or death. A Winnebago Industries dealer will inspect the motorhome to see whether the bolt is present and, if not, will install and properly torque a new bolt. If the bolt is present, the technician will assure the bolt is properly torqued. The repair is expected to take less than 60 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service center may need the vehicle for a longer time period.
